A base layer refers to the first item of clothing that you should ware next to the skin when riding your motorbike. Base layers let moisture move away from your body quickly which keeps you dry and comfortable . Base layer's need to be made from either synthetic material in order to breathe and dry easily, or organic materials such as merino wool, which has excellent odour-fighting, cooling and heating properties and stays very warm if wet. A good Base layer would be constructed with Flat Lock seams in order to be more comfortable . Base layers and mid layers are very important to help the breathability of your riding gear. If moisture can not travel through these under layers then it will not reach the membrane of any waterproof - severely depleting the waterproof's ability to breathe properly and thus making you feel sweaty or damp. Please note cotton T-shirt's are not recommended to be worn under breathable Gore-tex Jackets as they do not wick the moisture away from you body.
Is a type of of clothing that is worn between the base layer and your motorbike jacket. Mid layers are normally made from a high warmth-to-weight ratio, fast-drying synthetic fleece material such as a fleece top. A fleece is designed to be worn as an insulating layer and help with the breathability and comfort of the layering system.
